Core Responsibilities

1. Payroll & Salary Distribution

  • End-to-End Processing: Manage the monthly payroll cycle, ensuring all employees and laborers are paid accurately and on time.

  • Variable Pay: Calculate overtime, bonuses, shift differentials, and deductions (taxes, insurance, or loans).

  • Disbursement: Coordinate with the finance department for bank transfers or direct salary distribution.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain digital and physical payroll records for auditing purposes.

2. Leave & Attendance Management

  • Tracking: Monitor daily attendance, late arrivals, and early departures using biometric systems or manual logs.

  • Compliance: Manage statutory leave entitlements (sick leave, casual leave, earned leave, and maternity/paternity leave) in accordance with Labor Laws.

  • Reporting: Generate weekly or monthly attendance reports for department heads.

3. Labor & Staff Relations

  • Issue Resolution: Act as the first point of contact for daily grievances, ranging from canteen issues and transport complaints to interpersonal conflicts.

  • Labor Welfare: Ensure work conditions meet safety standards and that laborers are treated according to legal and ethical guidelines.

  • Disciplinary Action: Handle disciplinary inquiries, issue warning letters, and manage terminations or exits when necessary.

4. Compliance & Documentation

  • Statutory Filings: Ensure compliance with local labor regulations (e.g., PF, ESI, or local labor welfare funds).

  • Audit Readiness: Keep all worker contracts, ID proofs, and legal documentation updated for government inspections.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of local Labor Acts and payroll taxation.

  • Technical: Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).

  • Soft Skills:

    • Conflict Mediation: Ability to de-escalate heated situations with laborers or staff.

    • Communication: Multilingual skills are often a plus to communicate effectively with diverse labor groups.

    • Integrity: Handling sensitive financial and personal data with total confidentiality.
